From the beginning, I didn't want to learn Mandarin in totality. My will was to learn quickly some basics, in order to get by daily situations, such as ordering food or taking a taxi. Sica was able to adapt to my needs, and I have made very quick progresses.

My name is Gerben, a 25-year-old trainee from The Netherlands. Currently I'm in Taipei for six months to work as a Marketing Manager for a project management company (product development and manufacturing). Of course I see being here as a great oppurtunity to at least pick up the basics of the Chinese language. I realize that it is going to be impossible to learn Chinese in six months, but a basic understanding should be a realistic goal. Teaming up with three fellow trainees we set out to find a private teacher, that could teach us as a group (as we were to late to enroll in any of the university programs), that's how we found Sica. Sica is an inspiring young lady, very patient and passionate about teaching. It's not easy to teach a group of friends that forget they are in class every now and then, and she sure tries to do her best. Although I should study more by myself to get the maximum out of the classes, I feel Sica has been able to teach me the basics and I'm curious to see how far she'll be able to take our group in the last few months. I would like to thank Sica for her kindness and hospitality, and if she's just a bit more strict we could really pull this Chinese thing off.

Mijn naam is Gerben, een 25 jaar oude trainee uit Nederland. Op dit moment werk ik voor zes maanden in Taipei als Marketing Manager bij een project management firma (productontwikkleing en productie). Natuurlijk zie ik het hier zijn als een uitgelezen kans op op zijn minst een basisbegrip van de Chinese taal op te pikken. Ik realiseer me dat het onmogelijk is om Chinees te leren in zes maanden, maar een basisbegrip moet een haalbaar streven zijn. Samen met drie andere trainees zijn we op jacht gegaan naar een priv矇 leraar/lerares die ons als groep wilde lesgeven (we waren te laat voor de programma's op de universiteiten), dat is hoe we bij Sica terecht zijn gekomen. Sica is een inspirerende jongedame, zeer geduldig en gepassioneerd in lesgeven. Het is niet gemakkelijk een groep vrienden, die af en toe vergeten dat ze in een les zitten, les te geven en ze doet hard haar best. Alhoewel ik meer zelfstandig zou moeten studeren om het maximale uit de les te halen, heb ik het gevoel dat Sica in staat is gebleken om mij de basis taalvaardigheden bij te brengen en ik ben benieuwd hoe ver we het in de komende laatste maanden met onze groep gaan schoppen. Ik wil Sica graag bedanken voor haar aardigheid en gastvrijheid, en als ze een beetje strenger zou kunnen zijn weet ik zeker dat we dit Chinese varkentje eens even zullen wassen.

I came to Taiwan 3 months ago and from the beginning I knew I would like to learn Chinese, or at least try to pick up some basics and understand the culture better.

Nasli jsme Sicu a tato volba se ukazala jako velice stastna. My name is Gokhan. I am a 23 years old guy from Turkey who works in Taiwan . As most of you can guess learning chinese is not an easy topic thou with the help of Sica its getting easier .
